He must've been teased constantly growing up -- and there were so many alternatives, "Richard", "Rick", "Rich", "Richie, "Ricky", etc. But he thought, "No, I'm a Dick, and I'm going to stay a Dick." That kind of stubborn single-mindedness seems like a perfect metaphor for his insistence on the Iraq-al Qaeda connection. You have to wonder about a guy in his 60′s who still goes by the name “Dick”.
