I’ve heard of the marigold thing and either it’s a really good wive’s tale or it is true. I was allergic to marigolds as a kid so I don’t really plant them. My mother has some that self sow and come back year after year.

I was planning on spending the day in the garden as well. I already planted the peppers but I need to get the tomatoes in. I also have a bunch of marigolds to plant among the veggies. I don’t know if they really keep the bugs away (and the deer?) but it’s a force of habit now. Instead I spent the day driving with my daughter, who finally got her car back after the 30 day warranty problems that we found were fixed. It’s a sweet deal. They had to put $3600 worth of fixin’ to it, with not a dime coming out of our pockets!

My Mother’s Day gift to myself is to play in the garden tomorrow.
