Left the states on June 29th and returned to the states on July 10th. Our connecting flight from NYC to RIC was cancelled as we were over the Atlantic. The four of us stayed in Queens and then split up. My Florida sister caught a flight home and the remaining three caught a flight back to Virginia.
Quick list of places visited:
Edinburgh – 3 days on front end and we flew out of this airport.
Pitlochry – just 1 night and we did laundry for 4 hours, unintentionally but it took forever. We also toured the Blair Atholl distillery.
Inverness – sheepdog demonstration at Leanach Farm, visited Culloden which was so well presented, boat ride on Loch Ness.
Portree – 2 days and our favorite hotel (Marmalade). Weather wasn’t great so a couple of sites were no-go because we couldn’t see through clouds, mist, fog.
Fort William – 1 day and absolutely worst hotel (The Moorings)–can’t say much nice about this place. The sun was shining.
Glasgow for about 2 hours (bummer for me as I had nice memories of that city).
I’m tired and I don’t think it is jet lag. I didn’t have a whole lot of down time and felt like I was in shepherding mode for most of the trip. I know that sounds ungrateful.
The people of Scotland are fantastic. The scenery is beautiful. It was good to catch up with a grad school friend for a few hours in Edinburgh.
