Snow in Cleveland

I was just reading midwestgrrl and she reports snow in Cleveland. I know it is early for snow, but it is almost 70 today here in Richmond. I’ll split the difference. I’m sick of pawing through the drawer for short sleeves.

The Thorns

We went to the John Mayer concert last night at the Coliseum so that I could see The Thorns open. Yes, it was interesting and fun to see John but that was not why we shelled out the $89. Even though the acoustics in the 24oz Miller Lite can I was holding were better than the Coliseum’s, The Thorns rocked. Matthew Sweet played a gazillion different stringed instruments. They were jaded and funny about it. All that flew over everyone’s heads–there’s nothing like Gen X funny especially when Gen Y just doesn’t get it. I think I was one of 5 fans in the audience.

I’ve decided that I don’t like teens in large groups. I’m officially an old lady now. And the people I like even less are their parents. The Capital D, Capital I, Capital C, Capital K father I sat next to hogged the arm rest and if I got more skin time with him hogging both his seat and mine then I was ready to ask him to introduce himself. I can only believe he has a very lower case p-e-n-i-s. And, to his daughter rolling her eyes everytime she had to get the freak out of my way, I have this to say–No matter what kind of loser I was in high school there was no way in HELL that I would have consented to seeing a concert with my parents. They didn’t even let her have a soda. They sat there the whole time with their arms crossed, except when they munched on their bag of peanuts. Who can eat peanuts and not drink something?

Thoughts on seeing John Mayer last summer vs seeing him last night: The John Mayer machine is in full gear. He’s gonna be a big star. He had those girls eating out of his hand.

Earth’s Positive Future

The better-half googled his mother’s name. This is one of the sites where her name showed up.

I wish I had something to say about this other than check out that graphic.

Had to Do It

You knew it was bound to happen sooner or later…a cute kitty picture.

I thought about doing a PhotoShop on Leon’s eye but decided to let it remain–he normally comes up slightly satanic in photos. The one upside down on the couch is the evil Tac of the knocking over trashcans and sitting on the counter fame.

To show you I haven’t gotten all soft, I’m currently listening to that head-banging good time Dope’s “Die MF Die”. LOVE THAT SONG.

That was close

If you live anywhere near the East Coast, did you feel the rumbling under your feet and smell the acrid stink of a volcano about to blow? The furniture got here at 1:45….Mt. Frog didn’t have to explode. The world is safe again.

Waiting Game

Back in September (the 13th actually) we bought an entertainment center with two side bookcases. We’ve been patiently waiting for the furniture store to call us and tell us when the pieces were going to show up at our house. After 4 weeks, I called the store to see if there was an update on possible delivery. We were told 6-8 weeks when we laid out the cash money. I figured at 4 weeks someone should have a rough estimate. I was told mid-November. The better-half called a couple of weeks ago and got the same story. Looking at the calendar, you may say, hey wasn’t last week mid-November? Yes, my friends it was.

The better-half stopped by the store earlier this week and made them actually find out a delivery date. There was a snafu with the manufacturer and it would be late January before we’d get the furniture we’d ordered and paid for in September. I lost my eggo.

Today between 11am and 2pm our furniture is arriving. It is the floor model and the bookcases don’t have the glass doors like we wanted. The furniture store took the price of the doors off and are giving us something off for our trouble. I wanted 50% off but the better-half worked a pretty good deal and I suppose we are getting nearly 50% off when you consider the mark-up that got marked-down, the discount we got for buying the whole set, the fact that we’re taking the floor sample, etc.

The store is going to get a letter about how disappointing the process was and how raggedly lame their customer service is. When I spend lots of cash on something I expect, nay, demand that you pay attention to detail. I’m funny that way.

I’m the Luckiest

On our walk back from Su Casa (our favorite lunch destination), I found a shiny heads-up dime on the sidewalk. I swooped on it and proclaimed that I was the luckiest girl in the world. I then had to tell the story of finding mucho dinero once when I was a kid. I can’t remember now if it was a $10 or a $20 but I couldn’t have been more than 8 when I found it. It seemed like a lot at the time and, honestly, if I came across one of those bills now I’d feel like little miss big britches.

I Robot

Since I was a wee lass, I’ve been fascinated by robots and all things Sci-Fi. I will happily watch old, new, bad, good Sci-Fi. The storylines don’t even have to make a whole heck of a lot of sense. It matters not.

With this knowledge, you can understand why I said yesterday that I have $75 burning a hole in my pocket.

Thanks for Trampling My Memories

For years they’ve been trying to change the name. Even back when I was there the name change was floated and quashed.
