You may have noticed that F&G was down today…ok, even if you didn’t notice I won’t hold it against you. The servers were the last things to move out of the craphole office to the new office. Since we host everything ourselves the blog was down, email was down, the connection to the internet was down, etc.
If you’ll excuse me, I must go forth and wallow in the majesty of the web.

Today I left work early (because when you own a Mom & Pop company sometimes the Mom part of the equation has to take care of other stuff) and surprised the cats by getting home earlier than usual. Not that getting home early has a bit to do with my realization that what goes on in a cat’s mind is never going to make sense–just thought you’d like to know.
I’ve had one of my cats since 1990. That’s a long darn time. I’ve known that cat longer than I’ve known the better-half. What I want to know is why that darn cat still crouches down as low as his stubby body will take him when I walk past him. Does he really think after all this time that I’m going to start kicking him?

We had a great weekend in Middletown/Winchester. We ate well and way too much but it was necessary for all the strenuous laying around we did. It works up quite an appetite for brains, brains and more brains. Yeah, that’s right, we hardly ever go to the movies and we spent Saturday afternoon watching Dawn of the Dead. Then we spent the rest of the weekend discussing it to no end. I ended all conversations with “It was a zombie movie.”
To tie in the title of this post, the Inn provided us with cookies. I wrapped them up for the ride home.

I just realized in that last post that I was going to post a shout-out to my sister and the Niece and I forgot. I’m chalking it up to being tired and a loozher.
My sister and the Niece brought 2 pizzas and some very, very delicious iced tea last night to the new office and we stone-cold munched out on the picnic table. It is a little dramatic to say, but she saved us last night. Pizza never tasted so good and did I mention the iced tea was AWESOME? Yep, it was.

Thank goodness for the weekend.
We have finally moved all of the office stuff from in-town to the new location. The new office looks like a bomb went off but at least the stuff is in the new location. I really think the new building is going to work out so well.
We’re off for some relaxation this weekend. We’ll be staying at the Wayside Inn in Middletown. For you snack-aholics, Middletown is the home of Rt 11 Potato Chips. I’ve actually been “backstage” at the potato chip factory. It was years ago when my training partner and I stayed at the Inn. We hung out with one of the chip employees in the tavern portion of the inn. He took us in through the back and let us buy chips after hours. Oohlala.
It is a beautiful 75 degrees here in the Richmond area and I hope ya’ll have a wonderful weekend.

I try to be fair. I really do. I really do try to have the attitude that everyone has the right to do what makes them happy. With all that said, it is time to send out the freak alert…

We had dinner last night at Acacia to celebrate the anniversary. Let me start by telling you this is one of the better restaurants in the Richmond area. The chef was named a Food & Wine Best New Chef a few years back. The restaurant is in a restored church and it is small, intimate, romantic and the food is delicious. We’ve been there many times for special occasions. It is the kind of place that makes you want to dress up a little, sit up straight and have witty conversation over drinks.
With all of that said, I’m just going to come right out and say it: I am an elitist snob. It was an affront to my senses that at a table of four, two young women were wearing baggy grey sweat pants and scruffy t-shirts at dinner.
The sweat pants weren’t the kind that can pass for anything resembling juicy. They were the kind you’d wear to the gym or, if you were sick, wear them all day while sleeping on the couch. And, to cap it off, one of them talked on their cell phone while in the bathroom.
This is a disturbing trend that I’m witnessing more and more: chatting on your cell while taking a piss.

Wouldn’t it be hilarious to wear one of these to your next dental appointment?

We got to the office today to discover that the power was off. Just for the record–our building was the only one without power so it wasn’t like something was wrong in the area. After the power was restored, the fire alarm went off and we had to go out and sit in the parking lot for awhile. It is a great feeling to know that we’re leaving this crappy office space later this week.

Nothing would give up life:
Even the dirt kept breathing a small breath.
- RoethkeWhat better way to spend a Sunday morning than planting? I’m sure some would disagree, but I believe you’ll find no better proof of a higher power than when you are outside in the morning sun digging in the dirt and listening to the wind blow through the surrounding woods.
I planted a few tiarella wherryi and a few pulmonaria “raspberry splash”.
