Mythological Room

Today we went over to the dining hall and guess what. There isn’t a faculty dining room. That was in the old building. I fell right into the “things were so good back in the day that we keep talking about them now” Richmond trap. As it turns out, the dining facility is quite nice and reminded me of an upscale food court at an upscale mall. All you can eat for $7.20. I have no idea what meal plans cost, but that’s the street price.

There were lots of food stations with people wearing chef’s jackets sautéing up vegetables and entrees. The chairs at each table were quite nice with a faux soft leather seat covering. The floor is wood, the windows tall and the duct work exposed. It reminded me of a huge loft.

We sat fairly close to the salad bar area so we were able to see that left to their own devices students make better food choices than we expected and better than we did. Moms and Dads out there, kids do choose to drink milk and eat vegetables. I ate 2 lemon squares, part of a dried out chocolate cake, a slice of mediocre pepperoni pizza and some fish and chips. I’ll make up for the total lack of nutrition later this weekend.

It sounds pretty good. Not a bad price either. I spent quite a bit of time at the cereal bins in my school cafeteria. It was that bad.

By the way, I see you have had some crazy weather/temperature swings the last couple days.

Glad it was a good experience for you….even though the chocolate cake was dried out.

Hey, do you ever eat at Anna’s? We just got back from there and I feel terrible…..greasy and gassy. I always leave there feeling like my colon is going to explode! Haa haa!

We like Anna’s pizza but I don’t recommend just eating the cheese or just pepperoni…too greasy. The better-half eats the lunch buffet frequently because his office is nearby.

    Liz,
The weather has been freakish. Thursday I had to turn on the A/C in the car it was so hot. Tonight we’ll be using the fireplace. We have weather warnings to not burn because of the dry wind we’ve been experiencing. The fire station hasn’t sounded their alarm yet but I won’t be surprised to hear it over the weekend.

It’s been steadily cold up here, but I think it would be worse to get that taste of warm weather and have it snatched away from you overnight. It’s supposed to warm up to the 60′s later this week up here. I’ve got stuff poking up all over my gardens, so I am ready for spring!
