Came Up With Nothing

Dead Like Me is a fabulous show. I’m surprised that I can’t seem to find who the musical guest was on the latest episode, “Rites of Passage”. Oh sure I figured out the actor’s name who played the reaped rock star, but it didn’t really seem to me that he was the one doing the singing. Anyone know anything about where I can get a soundtrack list for the show?

Addled but not that Addled

Occasionally the contract company I work for requires all its consultants to submit time on a different schedule than usual. Would you like to guess how many emails are typically sent out to remind consultants about this? I’d guess in the neighborhood of 1.2 gazillion. Let me ponder the irony of this…we’re paid to bring enlightenment to our individual agencies/companies but we can’t be trusted to remember to turn in our timesheets? In case I’ve never mentioned it, my company is a technical company. Yes, we’re all technically savvy. I think we’re also smart enough to put a reminder on our calendars. And, I’m pretty sure the whole rule of no timesheet equals no paycheck is a rule we all remember.

The other funny thing about my involvement with this company (actually there are lots of funny things but I don’t have the energy to list them all) is my profile on the time entry system includes these words–Business Driver: Increase Revenue. Well, duh.

My Mushy Monkey Mind

I’ve been on-site at the contracting job for the past two days and, really, I feel like I’ve been in a cave. I have no knowledge of the outside world except the snippets I hear on the car radio.

For the record dickcheney scares me more than any terrorist threat. Is he a fear-monger or what?

My grandmother has to have part of her colon removed. The surgery is tomorrow evening at 6pm. Good thoughts are appreciated.

Recycled Shelving

I’ve put off doing something about the closet in our guest bedroom for far too long. We store wine, small appliances, bedding and all kinds of crapola in that closet. It was really a pain in the neck trying to either get something out of it or put something back. Today, I took everything out and vacuumed then mentioned to the better-half that I’d like to put some shelving in there. The better-half said, “come on, let’s go down to the garage”.

In about 2 hours time we scrounged through all the leftover wood that we tore out of the basement and made a shelving unit. The unit may not win any Stylin’ and Profilin’ awards, but it sure does its job.

Mostly Good

My sister called my mother today to report in after the storm. They are fine and think their place missed being torn apart or flooded. They can’t go to the house yet, but their sources tell them that it doesn’t look like the storm surge came over the dunes at their location. They are a little stir-crazy from being cooped up for so long but are fine. My uncle and family down in Miami missed too much of a bad thing and are glad to finally be able to take the shutters off the house.

My grandmother may have to have surgery and has already told the doctor he has to figure out a way to remove only part of her colon because she’s not going to end her life with a bag. I said “Way to go, Grammie”.

Get a move on, Frances

If you are watching the coverage, my sister and her husband live in New Smyrna Beach, FL. I’m sure we won’t hear from her until late Monday or early Tuesday because of infrastructure issues.

It sure does stink watching horrible events unfold on teevee especially when people you care about are in harm’s way.

And, lo, when the moon is a “bad moon rising”, ye shall harvest ye potatoes.

It’s Friday I’m in Love

My name is Grumpy:
Who else is looking forward to a long, soaking weekend? My advice is to stay the heck away from the East Coast. Even if it isn’t raining right this minute I’m sure it will start soon. If electricity is something you value, we only have it by the Grace of Edison. Since I’ve been at the office (got here at 8am), we’ve had more power hits/surges than I have fingers and toes.

Zig-Zag Zell

I am unable to watch the RNC on teevee because we still don’t have access to all of our channels (thanks Directv). So, that’s my caveat; I didn’t get to see his speech.

Here’s my beef:
Why is it OK for Zell Miller to change his mind but it isn’t OK for John Kerry to change his?

I can assure you that “my secret sauce” is not my “secret power source”.
