Who Is

I found this picture in the bottom of a box of old tax papers. I have no idea who it is and my parents can’t identify this person either. It is an old picture on card stock and there is nothing to identify this person. I assume he/she is a long-dead relative but I really have no idea.

What do you do with pictures like that? Keep them or throw them away?

Turning up like a bad penny

I’ve been cleaning out closets lately and I found this penny underneath an old typewriter. I assume the weight of the old typewriter over the years finally did the penny in but I’ve never seen a penny that was damaged so much. It looks like something much worse happened to it.

I also found paystubs from when I worked in a little place I refer to as Hell. I can’t believe I stayed there as long as I did for so little dinero. I should have known not to work there because when I interviewed they were recovering from a fire. The fire probably came up from the trapdoor to Hell that the owner used to hang out with his friend Satan.

Not So Ugly Yellow

The white paint has been on the tile in the yellow bathroom for a couple of weeks now and it seems pretty sturdy. I haven’t turned on the shower in there yet because I’m a little nervous. We still need to pick a color to go on the top row of tile so that row looks pretty bad compared to the other tiles since it still just has the primer look. I wish the pictures had come out better, but if you aren’t closely examining the tile you could be fooled that it is new tile–especially if you look in the bathroom from the hallway. The painted tile is, naturally, much whiter than the tile on the floor and I’m not sure if I should paint that over or what we should do.

Pumpkins

On Friday night we went to my sister’s house to carve pumpkins. The Niece met us at the door with a ladybug outfit on–complete with antenna and wings. She was darn cute. Then she entertained us for 30 minutes before her bedtime. You can see how well we did with the pumpkin carving. Guess which one I did…I have to say it is some of my best carving yet.

New Phone

I finally have a phone on my desk at work. I no longer either have to stand at the rack of servers and use the phone or steal the one off the better-half’s desk. The interesting thing is today (Saturday) we had to exchange the system for one that actually works (because as you know total crap comes out of brand-new boxes sometimes). My phone which is some kind of “accessory handset” to the main system looks like somone has been using it for days, nay, weeks. You know what I mean…you wipe your cellphone on your pants leg too. That funk is already on the faceplate of my phone. I asked the better-half why it looks like someone has been using my phone. He said he had yesterday while he was testing the system. I said Gack, you put that much funk on it while testing.

Aren’t you glad I decided to update my page today so you could learn about the completely boring?

Heidrun

Years ago we were able to get Heidrun Sparkling Mead occasionally. We really like it and it is different from nearly everything else we drink. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before but I finally went to their website to see if I could order a few bottles. I’m always a little leary of doing something like this when it comes to alcohol since there are some strange laws out there about what can be shipped. As it turns out Heidrun was happy to sell me some bottles and ship them to me. The bottles arrived today and the company threw in some really cool rectangular coasters (I think they are designed to be coasters and postcards–clever). Anyway, here’s what the coaster looks like–pretty neat, huh?

Carytown Eats/Drinks

We’re going to do this with our friend C.T. on Sunday. Hopefully it will be full of interesting tips about food and wine. And, here’s hoping we get to sample some tasty treats too.

Things on my mind

Is there something wrong with me because I think bad thoughts when I get an email from someone who hasn’t bothered to keep in touch except about a year ago when she needed me as a reference? Hey, what about those plans for lunch you were going to call me right back with? I’m supposed to be happy that I got included in a mass email about some stupid horses dancing around on the screen?

How many people are each of us allocated that really only want us around when they need something from us or because they expect that we’ll behave a certain way? I think I’m either over my limit or I’m banging into the ceiling. Whatever happened to wanting to hang with me because of my great personality? I’m not even being ironic.

Here’s something else that is a puzzler…why do musicians release Greatest Hits albums? Doesn’t that imply that there will never be another great song released by them? Shouldn’t all those kinds of albums be Best Of albums–at least until the musician is dead and then you could appropriately use the term Greatest Hits?

Finally, is it “type” or “kind” in that question above (shouldn’t all those kinds/types of albums…)? I tried it both ways and looked on dictionary.com and got no clear answer. I looked in a reference book here and it isn’t even discussed–maybe I need a new reference book.

Smokin’

We went to lunch today at a tiny sandwich shop and while we didn’t actually see anyone light up we both have that cigarette stank going on now. I actually said I may have to work in the nude because my shirt smells so bad. The better-half thought this was a great idea. I declined and went back to my funked up desk.

Morning Conversation

The better-half and I are trying to decide if Jeremiah is worth another season of our watching. The first show was so much about reminding us about what happened last season that it was painful. The second show was better but we’re still not that impressed.

Here’s part of what we talked about this morning…why weren’t there any children at the Valhalla Sector? Wouldn’t they have survived the Big Death? All those people there and not one person procreated?

On a totally different subject but still within the confines of the above conversation…why would you follow your nose to the flavor of fruit? Wouldn’t you follow your nose to the scent of fruit?
